WHAT WE BELIEVE

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has always existed as the Son of God and is fully God. Jesus took on human flesh, becoming like man and exists as fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

GOD

God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of everything. He is One God who is holy and perfect. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three persons of God are all equally God. God created the world and everything in it perfectly. Man’s sin, or disobedience to God broke God’s perfect creation and created a sin nature in every person.

BIBLE

The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is divinely inspired by God and given as a way for man to know God and grow in holiness. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It is the truth, because it is inspired by God, without any mixture of error.

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of God and is fully God. He exists in spirit form and is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it by faith. We can never make up for our sin by good works. Professing faith in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness of sins is the only way anyone can be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

MAN

People are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life. The attitude of disobedience is known as man’s sin nature and it blinds man to God.

ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or live eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in unison with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives us eternal life as a free gift through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved through faith in Jesus Christ, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self-effort. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us security.

FAMILY

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the unity of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.

EVANGELISM & MISSIONS

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. Man’s purpose is to fulfill God’s command to make disciples through evangelism and edification of believers. Evangelism and missions are accomplished through the vehicle of the local church, but also through the individual lives of believers.
